"October 26, is a special day. It is the national holiday in Austria. On October 26, 1955, the "perpetual neutrality" was decided in Austria - a historic day for our country!
This year, October 26, will also be a special day in Belarus. Against the background of the current political upheaval, civil society and the free trade unions have called for a general strike. The highly militarized state apparatus in Belarus has already threatened that the participants in the general strike will lose their jobs.
We are well aware that the situation is not an easy one, not only for our colleagues at A1 Belarus, but especially also for local A1 management as well as for all citizens who are protesting and fighting for a change to the better. As far as we can assess, everything has been done so far to protect and support our colleagues at A1 Belarus. Said that, we again asked the A1 Group Management Board and the local Management of A1 Belarus to continue to do everything in their power to prevent the reprisals that have been announced against the protesting population and to protect our colleagues in Belarus. We specifically requested our management not to hinder or even sanction those colleagues who are taking part in the general strike in Belarus.
Knowing that the current situation in Belarus is very challenging, we wish all the best and lots of strength for all people in Belarus who are fighting for a free and democratic country"
